December 13, 2009, trainees
from the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) participated in a
half day training session at BTC Niigata Center. This marked the second time that EGAT has
trained at BTC. The first was a 5 day training which took place in December,
2008.
This training
consisted of a lecture session (3hrs) followed by a simulator observation/ operation
session (2hrs). Several short lectures explained basic outlines of the BWR and
ABWR plant, ABWR safety systems and ABWR human machine interface. The simulator
session included plant start-up/shut down operation as well as observing
accident response operations. Trainees
approached the training with just as much interest and enthusiasm as the year
before.
By spreading the
benefits of the ABWR technology through training opportunities such as this, BTC
hopes to continue to make a small international contribution.
